As part of his celebration to mark 60 years of priesthood, Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor, former Rector of the College and previous archbishop of the Diocese of Westminster, joined the College community for mass and lunch today. During lunch, current Rector, Mgr Philip Whitmore, thanked and congratulated the Cardinal before giving him a gift containing a replica of the College.
The eagerly awaited 2016 edition of The Venerabile was launched after the College mass this evening. The Venerabile is the College's annual publication featuring scholarly articles on subjects relevant to the College, and news of the College and its alumni from the past year. Popular sections include The Year in Pictures, leavers' profiles and an amusingly insightful account of the year by a mystery diarist. Photo shows part of the Venerabile team: editor Peter Taylor (middle), secretary Dominic Jenkinson (left) and business manager Albert Lawes (right). More details on The Venerabile page.
In an informal meal at this year's Villeggiatura on 8 July 2016, the College bade a fond farewell to the students and members of staff going to pastures new this summer. Rector Mgr Philip Whitmore paid tribute to all the leavers while Rev David Howell spoke on behalf of the other students. Senior Student and deacon-to-be Mark Paver also presented Fr Mark Harold (outgoing Vice Rector) and Fr Bruce Burbidge (outgoing Academic Tutor) with gifts as tokens of appreciation from the whole student body.
