Friends of the Venerabile

The Friends of the Venerabile is an association which anyone can join. Joining the Friends of the Venerabile is a great way of maintaining contact with the English College, and is a tangible and spiritual way of supporting vocations to the priesthood in England and Wales.

Aims of the Friends

  1. To promote the work of the Venerable English College for the Catholic Community of England, Wales and Rome.

  2. To foster knowledge of the history of the College and its martyrs.

  3. To support the students of the College with prayers and encouragement.

  4. To provide financial help for the material needs of the College.

Membership

Who joins the Friends?

  • Past and present members of the College and their families.

  • Participants in pilgrimages and visits to the College and Palazzola.

  • All those who wish to be associated spiritually and culturally with the College.

Subscription

The minimum annual subscription is £25. Family membership is £40.

Friends are asked to contribute an annual sum, to include their subscription, by a Deed of Covenant so that tax can be recovered.

Friends are invited to consider legacies and other donations as ways to benefit the College.

Activities and benefits of membership

Members of the Friends receive a copy of the annual College magazine, The Venerabile, a publication which has been running for almost 90 years containing articles about life in the College, life in and around Rome, and matters of interest to the faith in the Church at large.

Friends are encouraged to pray for the seminarians as they discern the will of God for their lives and prepare for the challenging mission of being ordained as his priests.

The Friends regularly circulate a newsletter to members about life at the College and Association events.

Pilgrimage, holiday and study groups visit the College and Palazzola.

Local groups of Friends organise events in their own area.
