Help the VEC

The VEC has prepared men to serve as priests in England and Wales ever since its foundation by Pope Gregory XIII in 1579. More recently, men have come to the VEC from other nations, both in Europe and further afield.

The chance to be in Rome offers a unique opportunity to experience the Church as universal: during their time in training, the seminarians meet and make friends with students from all over the world.

Please help us in our task of preparing men for the mission in the 21st century in any of the ways shown below. Thank you for your support.

Pray for the VEC

Please pray for the seminarians and those responsible for their training. It is only through the grace of Almighty God that a man is able to discern with clarity and serenity what the Lord wants of him. God is never outdone in generosity.

He is simply waiting for our humble prayer.

A prayer for the VEC

Lord Jesus Christ, eternal High Priest, send young men to become labourers for your harvest; bless those preparing for the Priesthood; make them good shepherds of your flock; and may their joy in serving you inspire them to give generously to all those entrusted to their care.

Pour out your blessing, Lord, upon the Bishops, Priests and Deacons who have studied at the College and let the light of your Holy Spirit guide them in their ministry.

We ask you, Lord, to bless the Venerable English College and all its friends and benefactors. Inspire us by the prayers and example of the College Martyrs to love the Priesthood and the Church in our country.

Make a donation

Please consider making a donation towards life in the seminary. We invite contributions for bursaries, for student welfare, and for specific projects. Our generous benefactors from North America are invited to visit the website of the North American Friends.

All our donors are remembered in our prayer. Thank you for any support you can give.

Visit the College

We also encourage support by inviting you to visit the College, especially for our public Masses on Sunday morning and Wednesday evening. You are assured of a warm welcome.

Remember us in your will

You could also remember us in your will, or make an ‘In Memory’ donation in the name of a loved one. In this way, you would help to ensure the future security of the Venerable English College, and to safeguard its ability to train courageous, confident and holy priests for England and Wales and beyond. Speak to your solicitor, or get in touch for more information.

Join the Friends of the VEC

The Friends of the Venerabile is an association which anyone can join. Joining the Friends of the Venerabile is a great way of maintaining contact with the English College, and is a tangible and spiritual way of supporting vocations to the priesthood in England and Wales.

Join the Roman Association

The Roman Association is the alumni association for ‘Old Romans’, men who have studied at the VEC. The Roman Association Trust is an endowment fund set up to support specific projects that benefit the College and the students. Each year the Trust makes a substantial donation to the College.
