Two new Deacons
The Christmas break saw two former seminarians of the Venerable English College ordained to the diaconate in their home Dioceses.
Jonathan Henry (Birmingham) was ordained at St Mary’s College, Oscott by Archbishop Bernard Longley. Jack Ryan (Portsmouth) was ordained in Portsmouth Cathedral by Bishop Philip Egan. The ordinations took place on Saturday 20 December 2025.
Both ordinations were well supported by current students and staff from the VEC along with a number of Old Romans.
The diaconate is the first level of Holy Orders: a life of service, rooted in proclaiming the Gospel, assisting at the altar, and caring for God’s people.
Please pray for Reverend Deacons Jonathan and Jack as they begin their ministry in the Church.
